The NodeXL team at the Social Media Research Foundation wishes all our users a happy holiday season and a healthy and happy new year. As 2024 draws to a close, social media is as central as ever to many societies, and increasingly contested. This makes social media research all the more critical. Social media enables collective sense making, acting as a kind of "marketplace of ideas". Our team seeks to provide accounting software for these idea markets, working to develop tools, methods, and standards similar to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. NodeXL is increasingly used to collect and analyze, explore and explain what is happening in a collection of annotated connections. Many kinds of repositories of messages and replies exist, our goal is to make these collections easy to import, analyze, visualize, and explore. In the past year we have worked with talented teams of network scholars to create versions of our guide to NodeXL in Korean, Spanish, and Arabic, with more on the way!
In the coming year, expect better ways to collect data from many more social media platforms along with support for dashboards that enable exploration and explanation of patterns found in social media data. |
