Happy Holidays from Team NodeXL |
As 2022 comes to a close big changes are underway in the worlds of social media, technology, and society. Dramatic changes at Twitter mean that the future of the platform and its data sharing practices are uncertain. Can Twitter operate reliably with far fewer employees? Will the user population stay the same or shift drastically as a massive migration to other platforms takes place? More thoughts on this transition are in an article "Twitter in flux...". What is clear is that social media is more important than ever. The NodeXL project will continue to support the Twitter network importers for as long as the platform allows the API to operate. NodeXL has importers for other social media platforms and we will continue to add connectors to other services. Which platforms are the most important to you? Let us know which social media platforms are most important to you! |

Exodus, movement of the people |
Changes in ownership at Twitter were quickly followed by changes in content moderation policy that led many people to decide to move to other social media platforms. A social media exodus is underway. Where are people going and how are they getting there? Here is a guide on how to move from Twitter to Mastodon. NodeXL can also assist in the migration with the new tutorial How to download your Twitter follower data. Find Team NodeXL on Mastodon: SMRF Director Dr Marc Smith |

New platforms: Startup, LiveVybe, Aims to Deepen Social Media with Emotion and Goal Filters |
LiveVybe is a proposed new social platform that intends to let users curate their social content based on the goals and aspirations of people, groups, and events. It will also let users filter media suggestions according to a specific mood or emotion they want less or more of. Founder, Bill Seaward, says LiveVybe will let users express their desires, define their emotional experience, and pursue personal outcomes with more responsiveness and precision.
This layer of user experience has been overlooked by other platforms, he says. And he hopes people will find it more fun and meaningful on a daily level, but that it could also help in addictions and mental health.
LiveVybe currently has a waitlist for a beta release, which you can join below. And their forum is open for anyone who wants to share ideas.
